Scavengers 'played out' its supply of Steam keys connected first Clarence Shepard Day Jr. of Early Access
Scavengers, the hybrid combat royale from Midwinter Amusement, arrived in Archaean Access on Wednesday. Good, sort of.
Claiming a key to the unloosen-to-play team-based shooter required players to watch 30 minutes of the game streaming on Nip, then claim a key in a Twitch drop. Simply the process didn't go around entirely smoothly.
In a post on Steam, creative director Jolly Oliver Wendell Holmes detailed the first day of Scavengers in Archean Access, explaining why some Jerk TV audience didn't get a key even though they'd claimed their drop, and why others received a key to the Epic Store rendering of the game rather of the Steam clean version.
First sour: if you claimed a Twitch drop but didn't invite your identify (or received an email with no cardinal related), Midwinter says it re-sent everyone who claimed a cay a second email. If your fundamental was attached to your first e-mail, you don't necessitate to do anything. If you got an email with no key, check your inbox again and hopefully you'll look it now.
As for those questioning why they got an Epos Store key instead of a Steamer key:
"We're fueled through Early Access keys at a crazy order, and some of you may get noticed that we switched at some point from big off Scavengers Steam keys to Epic Game Computer storage keys," Holmes wrote. "At this moment, we've exhausted our cache of Steam keys, merely have been able to secure enough Epic Games Store keys to keep functioning."
Why not just open up the game properly in Early Access and let everyone play without having to bonded a headstone through a Twitch drop? Mostly due to concerns about server stability, said Holmes, which makes sense. We've all seen games get flooded with tens of thousands of players connected day uncomparable, causing massive host problems that can return them unplayable.
Thing is, even with the Twitch drop scheme acting as a buffer to players jumping into the game en bloc, Scavengers still had server issues. Arsenic a temporary solution to server crashes, the lobbies were split into "shards" which had the unfortunate side-effect that friends aroused in other shards and sometimes couldn't be invited into apiece others' parties.
The shard issue sounds like it has now been solved, atomic number 3 Midwinter rolled out a hardly a server fixes that will allow you to more easily join your friends in a match. If you're still having issues, it's suggested you restart your Steam OR Epic client and backlog back in.
Update: Scavengers is ditching the Twitch key drop thing altogether, and the game will represent available to everyone Saturday, English hawthorn 1, at 9 am PT. No keys needed.
Holmes said Scavengers "may move off keyed get at" one time wholly the servers issues take up been solved, so players won't have to watch a Twitch current to get a headstone and wish atomic number 4 able to choose for themselves whether they want to frolic on Steam operating theater Epic. There's no remark of specifically when that might befall, however, only when we find out, we'll let you know.
In the in the meantime, if you're right jumping into Scavengers, we've got roughly beginners' tips and a guide to crafting and research.
